MTV Turns 30
Moorpark has had a brief shining moment on the music television network.
MTV turns 30 this month. Before it featured shows about 16-year-old mothers, Jersey fist pumps and the not-so-real world, it all started with a newish concept: music videos, along with VJs (video jockeys) to introduce them.
We’ve done some scouting and found lists of the first 10 songs played on the network, but first, did you know Moorpark’s had its time in the limelight, having been featured in a music video played on MTV?
The city has the (perhaps dubious) honor of having appeared in the video for Weird Al Yankovic’s Amish Paradise, a parady of Coolio’s Gangsta’s Paradise. It’s only for a few seconds, but part of High Street is featured in the Yankovic’s video.
