$2.00 buys a lot at Moorpark College this weekend. That is the suggested per-vehicle donation to help fund the Children of Many Colors Native American Powwow taking place on the athletic field of Moorpark College July 15-17. There is no admission fee. Everyone is welcome. This is a family friendly gathering and at 11 am on Sunday, July 17, with the Gourd Dance ceremony, there will be a Veteran's Honoring. All Veterans are welcome and encouraged to participate.
Approximately 30 vendors selling southwestern jewelry, arts and crafts, and a glorious selection of crafting supplies, minerals, beads, leather and regalia making items are set up as well as Wildhorse Cafe, an Indian Frybread booth operated by the non profit association Wildhorse,, and the highly praised Espresso Today.
The celebration takes place on the Campus Road entrance to the college on the practice football field. The event is ADA accessible, hosted by the non profit organization Redbird and sponsored by Moorpark College, the California Arts Council, the Ventura County Community Foundation's Barbara Barnard Smith Fund for World Musics, the Moon Family Trust and the Native American community at large.
