Simi Valley YMCA Summer Day Camp and Resident Camp Sign-Ups Under

Day camp runs from June 11 to August 10. Resident camp in Big Bear is June 23-30.

With summer just about here, the Simi Valley Family YMCA is reserving slots for its summer day camp and resident camp.

Day camp runs from June 11 to August 10. Four camps are available: non-travel camp for grades kindergarten through fifth (meets at Hollow Hills Elementary), travel camp for grades kindergarten through second (meets at Arroyo Elementary), travel camp for grades three through fifth (meets at Arroyo Elementary) and travel camp for grades six through eighth (meets at Sycamore Elementary).

Campers can attend full time or part time, all nine weeks or selected weeks.

Camp activities include swimming, arts and crafts, sports and field trips (for travel camps). Each camp week is themed. Camp fees are all-inclusive with no extra charge for trips or extended daycare hours. Fees range from $136 to $221 per week. Financial assistance is available to qualifying families.

Resident camp takes place at Camp Oakes at Big Bear. Resident camp is for kids entering fourth through 11th grade. A Counselor in Training program is available for 12th graders. Campers participate in archery, canoeing, wall climbing, campfires, swimming high ropes, arts and crafts and dances.

Resident camp dates are June 23 through June 30. An early bird camp fee (through April 22) is $515 ($545 after April 22). Financial assistance is available to qualifying campers.

"YMCA camps are a tradition for many families," says Ryan Fowler, senior director of youth programs at the Simi Y. "They are a wonderful way for kids to grow in character while making lifelong friends and fantastic memories."
