The Top Ten Cities in SoCal to Raise Kids; Find Out Where Moorpark Ranks
Of course you made the list.

Moorpark is one of the best cities in Southern California to raise a family. (But you knew that, right?).
So says website CreditDonkey, a credit card comparison and financial education website. It took five important variables to come up with what it considers a good place to raise kids. Those were:
- Education: The percentage of high school graduates
- Work-life balance: Average commute time
- Family-friendly: The percentage of households with children under 18
- Stable community: The percentage of people residing in the same house last year
- Cost of living: The percentage of income spent on housing
Moorpark came in at No. 5 on the SoCal’s Top Ten.

“If safety is at the top of your list when choosing a new city, Moorpark is just what you’re looking for. The city, which has the lowest overall crime rate in Ventura County, also ranks well nationally compared to similarly sized areas.,” says CreditDonkey.
The No. 1 city to raise a family is Poway, according to CreditDonkey. No other Ventura County cities made the list.

- High school graduate or Higher: 88.9 percent
- Commute time: 26.8 minutes
- Households with children under 18: 41.6 percent
- Residing in same home: 90.6 percent
- Income spent on housing: 27.1 percent
