Ventura County Public Works Agency announces SB-1 Road Improvement Project List
Local Projects Will Improve Safety, Extend Road Life

Ventura County Public Works Agency’s (VCPWA) Transportation Department has released a list of local road improvement projects designed to make it easier and safer to travel in the region. The project list was developed as part of the requirements of Senate Bill 1 (SB-1), the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017, which is also providing much of the funding to do the work.
Projects that will be funded in part by SB-1 include:
- Camarillo Heights Pedestrian Improvements will construct approximately 1,300 feet of new sidewalk, curb and gutter, curb drains, driveway reconstruction and curb ramps on Mission Drive and Catalina Drive.
- Santa Ana Bike Lanes will widen a shoulder with asphalt, including pavement markings, striping, and signage to construct approximately 4.2 bike lane miles.
- Las Posas Road Bike Lane will consist of restriping, pavement markings, and signage including a rejuvenation seal for approximately 8.6 bike lane miles.
- Pavement Resurfacing at Carlisle Road, Box Canyon Road and Yerba Buena Road will repave 6.8 miles of road, as well as restriping and restoration of an unpaved shoulder.
- Pavement Resurfacing at Casper Road, Laguna Road, Naumann Road and Wooley Road will repave 6.3 miles of road, as well as restriping and restoration of an unpaved shoulder.
VCWPA anticipates it will receive $3.79 million toward these improvement projects and expects to complete all by December 2018.

“Funding from SB-1 is critical and enables us to resurface several roads and complete a number of multi-modal transportation projects that expand bicycle and pedestrian facilities in high-traffic areas and near local schools in the unincorporated areas of Ventura County,” explains David Fleisch, director of the VCPWA Transportation Department. “These important infrastructure updates add sidewalks and bike lanes and preserve the lifespan of our roadways for many years.”
