Wake Up The World Tour - Voices of Water comes to Moorpark College on April 11
#NODAPL Water Protectors will take part in Moorpark College's Multicultural Day

They met at Standing Rock, North Dakota, as Water Protectors, peacefully demonstrating against the Dakota Access Pipeline. They were shot at with rubber bullets (which is nothing less than a real bullet with a rubber coating), stood together in sub-zero cold, sang traditional Lakota songs in the face of heavily armed police and military forces. They are the descendants of indigenous leaders. They are the seventh generation, the ones who the elders said were coming. And they are coming to Moorpark on April 11 to share songs, stories, strength and hope.
The eight member group will be on stage in the Campus Center from 1 PM to 2:30 PM as a part of Moorpark College Multicultural Day, a free event held annually the second Tuesday in April. They will also be performing at a number of other venues in southern California.
Multicultural Day is free and the public is welcome. Janet Murphy of Mni Wiconi Pacifica, a lifetime southern California (Moorpark) resident, arranged for the Tour to perform at Moorpark College, underscoring the college's commitment to be a magnet school for Native American students.
