Welfare checks are done hourly or every 30 minutes depending on the area of the jail. Emergency crews administered first aid to the inmate, who was pronounced dead at the scene, Jensen said.
The deputies were placed on administrative leave last week, according to Jensen. The sheriff’s office has not released the names of the deputies or the circumstances surrounding the death.
