Suspicious Package At Google Calls Out Hazmat, Bomb Squad: Police

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA —A Hazmat team joined a bomb squad in responding to a suspicious package at Google's Sunnyvale offices, the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety reported Tuesday night.

Seven hours earlier, the fire and Hazmat team received a call to the 1200 block of Crossman for a report of a suspicious package sent through the mail. After an inspection was conducted, the package was cleared, police reported.

As a precaution, Google evacuated the offices while the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad was called to assist in the investigation that turned out negative results for explosives.

The investigation had ruled there is no threat to the community, but the probe is ongoing.

The U.S. Postal Inspection Service was deemed the lead agency due to their jurisdiction over the mail system.

This isn't the first time Google has sustained this type of threat. Last November, the bomb squad was called out on another suspicious package that had to be cleared of explosive potential.
