SUNNYVALE, CA — The biggest fast food chain in the world has come to the Bay Area, according to reports.
Not McDonald’s, not Starbucks — it’s China-based Mixue, which specializes in soft serve and boba, and has more than 53,000 locations globally, according to The Mercury News.
The chain on July 2 announced a grand opening weekend event set for earlier this month at its new Sunnyvale store at 1641 Hollenbeck Ave., complete with giveaways, merchandise and a free soft serve with any purchase, according to an Instagram post from Mixue.
Low prices set the chain apart, with a soft-serve cone going for $1.59 and nothing priced above $5, The Mercury News reported.
The brand made its U.S. debut last year in Hollywood and has since expanded to New York while increasing its California footprint, according to SFGate. Plans are underway for a second Bay Area location in San Mateo, The Mercury News reported.
