Bay Area Airports Hit By Delays, Cancellations

The San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose airports report weather-related problems.

BAY AREA, CA -- There's been a break in the rain, but airports in the region said Jan. 9 that they're still struggling with flight delays and cancellations.

San Francisco International Airport experienced over two dozen flight cancellations on Monday, according to airport spokesman Doug Yakel, with the cancellations evenly split between arriving and departing flights. The flights are mostly short-haul commutes along the West Coast, Yakel said.

Meanwhile, Oakland International Airport reported some flight delays, also evenly split between arriving and departing flights and occurring mainly on flights to heading to cities on the West Coast. However, as of 4 pm on Jan. 9, no flights had been canceled, and operations appeared to be running normally, according to airport spokeswoman Keonnis Taylor.

Mineta San Jose International Airport also experienced flight delays but mainly on arriving flights, spokeswoman Vicki Day said. Flights coming in from Denver and Los Angeles were delayed by up to an hour, but other than minor delays, there were no cancellations and operations appeared to be running normally, according to Day.
