Jake Myrick of Sequoia Sake on starting a sake brewery in San Francisco

Jake Myrick had already been the founder of multiple tech startups when he decided to put his entrepreneurial skills and ten years living in Tokyo into creating a very different kind of company – the first and only local sake microbrewery in Northern California.

As it turned out, San Francisco was an ideal place for making sake. Sequoia Sake follows the art of making sake based on ancient Japanese tradition, and blends it with the enterprising spirit and unique qualities inherent to San Francisco. Producing small batches by hand, Sequoia Sake is at the forefront of a new American micro-sake revolution.

Jake will share with us his entrepreneurial journey from the tech world to sake brewing, and the inside story to finding success as a small, craft sake startup in one of the most competitive beverage markets on the planet.
