Viewpoints Gallery is excited to present “The Ethereal Coast: A Study in Mist and Light,” a collection of breathtaking new landscapes by Bay Area artist Caroline McClinitic. This brilliant new series captures the shifting, atmospheric beauty of the California coastline, where the land meets the Pacific under a heavy veil of marine layer. The series moves away from high-contrast sunshine, focusing instead on the soft, diffused textures that define the region's more contemplative moods. Many pieces use texture medium and collage to mimic the tactile elements of the rugged coast. These breathtaking studies of light and air highlight Caroline’s captivating and unique style, which incorporates the organic grain of the wood panel base to perfectly capture the soft flow of wind, fog and water.
Caroline’s award-winning works capture the essence of the San Francisco Bay Area, from her elegant urban cityscapes to her soulful landscapes that perfectly capture the beauty of the Bay Area. “I love the ethereal beauty of the rugged California coast,” says Caroline. “I enjoy infusing paintings with textured layers, from the natural grain of the stained wood panel to the rough textures of rocks and foliage.” Caroline’s new collection masterfully captures the exquisite charm of the California coast’s fog shrouded summers, giving viewers a fresh perspective of some of the Bay Area’s most beloved vistas.
