Removal of Cedar Tree from Plaza
After many decades of faithful service to the City of Mountain View, the cedar tree on the Civic Center Plaza must be removed. The 85-foot tall tree, which has been in a state of decline for many years, is scheduled for removal later this month and will require the use of a crane and temporary closure of portions of Castro Street near the Plaza. While discussions are still being had on which tree will replace the cedar, staff will have the replanting completed in time for the annual tree lighting event on December 9. And while the new tree may be smaller this year, the festivities are sure to be as grand and spectacular as previous years.
