The following is a news release from the San Mateo County/Silicon Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau:

In an effort to educate locals and visitors and keep them up to date on where to buy fresh , local produce, seafood, goat cheese, wine and beer, the San Mateo County/Silicon Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau has just published a “San Mateo County Farms/Fish/Fine Wine and Foam Map” on the Freshasitgets.com website.

This layered, interactive map shows the locations of our farmers’ markets, as well as Pillar Point Harbor, where fish may be bought directly off the boats.

The map also lets viewers know which farms offer periodic tours and/or special events, such as Ouroboros Farms and Harley Farms.

“The map will continue to be a work in progress,” said Anne LeClair, President and CEO of the Convention & Visitors Bureau. “We fully expect people to recommend additions and changes.”

Yet another layer indicates which farms have their own farm stands, such as Pie Ranch, Andreotti and Cabrillo Farms’ Farmer’s Daughter stand. The map was generated as part of a partnership with the San Mateo County Farm Bureau, San Mateo County Harbor District and the County. The group is working with fishermen, farmers’ markets and growers to get them to display the As Fresh as it Gets logo with their local products to make them easy to identify.

“We’re excited to see our growers showcased, “ said Bill Gass, Executive Director of the San Mateo County Farm Bureau. “This map makes it easy to find both the farmers and the local fishermen.”

Wineries and breweries are growing in numbers in the County and are featured in separate layers of the map.
