Chefs Who Care at Beausejour

In its sixteenth Ā year, Community Services Agency'sĀ ā€œChefs Who Careā€Ā dine-out has been a popular fundraiser that rotates among some of the area’s finest restaurants. Participating restaurants donate 50% of their proceeds for a specified dinner on a particular date (or two) each month.

ā€œIt’s a fun, easy, and rewarding way to support Community Services Agency and a great way to sample some of the new restaurants in the area, ā€œ says Jim Boin, Development Director for CSA, Ā ā€œWe have groups of friends who all come together on the same night, but you don’t have to be a part of a group to participate – just call or mail payment with information and sign up in advance.ā€Ā

The event is so popular now, attracting over 200 people each month that it is sometimes held over a 3-night period depending on the restaurant size.

Last year over $30,000 was raised to support our Food and Nutrition Center, the largest component of our Emergency Assistance Program.Ā

ā€œThe food available in our Food and Nutrition Center supports self-sufficiency by allowing money that might have gone to groceries to go for rent, medical bills and other expenses,ā€ says LaDrea Clark, CSA’s Food & Nutrition Assistant. ā€œIt also provides an opportunity with health and nutrition education to address lifestyle choices in diet that may impact future health problems with their subsequent economic and social burdens.ā€
