Famed Woodcrafters Lined Up For Palo Alto Festival of Arts
Look for the vendor at the Aug. 23-24 event, and try out a "floating back" chair!

Erickson Woodworking, Nevada City-based maker of museum level, highly functional handcrafted chairs and furnishings, is looking forward to the Palo Alto Festival of the Arts, August 23-24.
“We have such a rich history here, with many clients, patrons and great memories.” comments Robert Erickson. This year there is much that is new as Erickson Woodworking prepares to visit Palo Alto.
Erickson Woodworking is launching a new brand and website in mid-September 2014 to commemorate the addition of a new partner to the business. Tor Erickson, son of founder Robert, became a partner earlier this year.

This marks a moment of great personal significance for Robert Erickson, one of the best chair makers in the United States.
Though Erickson Woodworking’s work is now included in the Smithsonian Institute, nothing compares to the experience of sitting in one of its floating back chairs, meticulously built and designed in a process that has been evolving for decades.

This testimonial from a long-time Palo Alto resident speaks volumes on the passion of collector’s and those who cherish fine, handcrafted furniture—
“Thirty years ago, I first sat in one of Bob’s “floating back” rocking chairs at the Baltimore Craft Show. It made such an impression on me that two years later I picked out a slab of bird’s eye maple and was measured for one of his rockers as an engagement gift. After the remodel of our Eichler ten years ago, we chose a couple of Crane chairs for the living room. Last year, Bob and Tor designed a custom table in cherry and aluminum for the dining area. This artfully crafted furniture has survived rambunctious kids while becoming more beautiful each year.”—Anonymous Palo Alto Resident
