Fire Damages Silicon Valley Commercial Building

Breaking: The fire in a building off U.S. Highway 101 broke out just before 3:30 a.m., officials reported.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA -- A fire early Tuesday morning in a Sunnyvale commercial building near U.S. Highway 101 and the Lawrence Expressway caused significant damage to two suites in the building, public safety officials said.

At 3:24 a.m., Sunnyvale public safety crews were dispatched to 550 Lakeside Drive where suite 3 was on fire. When crews arrived, they tried to enter the suite but couldn't because of smoke, Battalion Chief Craig Anderson said.

Crews started a defensive attack and after about an hour, they had the fire extinguished, Anderson said.
