Grant Road Dental Collects over 200 Pounds of Candy for Troops Overseas

Mountain View dental office receives a large amount of leftover Halloween candy to send to troops.

Last week, Grant Road Dental, a dental office in Mountain View, started a Candy for Troops program. This program allowed parents and children to donate their leftover Halloween candy to troops overseas. Troops rank candy as the #1 thing they miss the most when serving overseas. Grant Road Dental thought it’d be a good idea to send the troops what they miss and deserve, while also saving children’s teeth from cavities in the Mountain View/Sunnyvale/Los Altos/Palo Alto area.

The dental office was amazed by how much candy they collected for their program. With the help of a 6 year old girl, Lara Platt, Grant Road Dental quickly received over 200 pounds of candy in donations. Lara, a first grader at Huff Elementary, thought it’d be a good idea to spread the word of their Candy for Troops program at her school, informing all of her classmates and other school members of the program.

As a way of giving back to the troops, Grant Road Dental thought it’d be a good idea to send off the candy on Veteran’s Day. All of their candy is packed up and has been officially shipped to various camps overseas.
