HerWorld Conference Inspires Girls at NASA Ames

Workshop and panels stress increasing the number of women in science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM jobs.

Women have made strides in many careers, but their numbers still fall behind men in the sciences.

To help reverse this trend, there is an emphasis to expose girls to careers in science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM at an early age and DeVry University’s HerWorld program hosted nearly 400 girls at NASA Ames last week.

Participating high schools included Pinote Valley High School, JFK High School, Newark Memorial High School, Watsonville High School, Burlingame High School, Hayward High School, Tennyson High School, McClymonds High School, Oakland High School, Santa Clara High School, Irvington High School, Wilcox High School, San Mateo High School, Westmoore High School and Galileo High School.
