Man Arrested In Mexico On Suspicion Of 60 Counts Of Sex Assault Of Minor On Peninsula

U.S. Marshal's Service and Mexican law enforcement aided in apprehension, police said. [Breaking]

PACIFICA, CA – A man was arrested in Mexico Tuesday on suspicion of sexually assaulting a minor in Pacifica numerous times over the course of a year, police said.

Pacifica police detectives have been investigating Pedro Diaz Morales, 36, since June, and obtained an $8 million arrest warrant for 60 counts of sexual assault.

Investigators found that Morales had fled to Chiapas, Mexico, his country of origin, police said.

In cooperation with the U.S. Marshal's Service and Mexican law enforcement, investigators located and apprehended Morales in Mexico.

Morales surrendered to law enforcement and was taken into custody by U.S. marshals in Tijuana.

Pacifica police officers are arranging transportation of Morales to San Mateo County for trial, police said.
