Mountain View Library Being Wrapped in Warm Wishes

Library staff is inviting patrons to write something encouraging on a pennant that will be placed on string and wrapped around the lobby.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- Do you have warm wishes for the community? If so, the Mountain View Public Library wants to help you spread them.

This holiday season library staff is inviting patrons to write something encouraging on a pennant -- a “Warm Wish”-- for others in the community. The words will then be placed on string and wrapped around the lobby over the months of December and January. The library says its goal is to have the entire lobby wrapped in warm wishes by February.

“The Mountain View Public Library is a place where everyone is welcome," librarian Sharon McClintock said in a statement released by the city. "Warm Wishes for Mountain View is a project that celebrates our care for one another and gives us a chance to wish each other well.”

“We hope to have messages in all different languages lining the lobby,” librarian Karin Mente added. “It’s a very simple way to say something nice to your neighbors, but sometimes the simplest gesture can make the biggest difference in a person’s day.”

The project's expected to culminate in a Warm Wishes Celebration at the library at 2 pm Sunday, Jan. 29, with refreshments and an interactive performance by the World Harmony Chorus and its director, Daniel Steinberg.
