MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA — Mountain View police asked for the public’s help Tuesday in identifying a man who fired shots in downtown Mountain View early Sunday morning. Police say no injuries were reported in the shooting, which happened at about 2:10 a.m. in the area of Villa and Bryant streets.
Mountain View officers were initially dispatched to Villa and Castro streets to investigate a report about a fight in progress. While at the scene, officers heard several gunshots fired nearby and were told by witnesses that a man had fired a gun into the air before driving off in a burgundy-colored Toyota Tundra pickup truck.
Officers recovered casings from the scene; however, Mountain police were unclear whether the shots fired were related to the initial call about a fight, because when officers first arrived they did not encounter anyone who appeared to be involved in any sort of altercation.
