K- 2 students at Yew Chung International School of Silicon Valley decorated an "Animals Around the World" tribute tree!

Yew Chung International School of Silicon Valley, a K-5 bilingual- English and Mandarin Chinese school located in Mountain View, joined the area event Christmas Tree Park in San Jose with a decorated tree themed: “Animals Around the World.”

Yew Chung’s student population comes from diverse backgrounds including Asian, European, Russian and Persian, plus has campuses around the world in Beijing, Shang ai, Qing Dao and Hong Kong.

“We thought to utilize this community event as a means to make connections between Social Studies, Science and the Earth,” said Lifon Huynh, second grade teacher. “Our K- 2 classes created the animal ornaments, and the ribbon is labeled in English and Chinese ‘Animals Around the World.’ They had a blast learning and drawing those animals that are indigenous to those regions.”
