Mythical Creatures that might be real

a look at two of the more popular mythical creatures

Almost everyone at one point or the other has heard tales about these creatures, fabled for their often immense powers and bizarre attributes. The debate on whether such beings exist in reality has been around ever since stories of their existence promulgated in the society. While no one has been able to concretely provide evidence of their existence in the present society we live in, the fact that these stories still circulate and are a major source of inspiration to creations of theatrical masterpiece leaves one to wonder, that maybe, just maybe these creatures are not a figment of man's imaginative mind but actually exist. After all, there is truth in the saying that most legends have a backing (however minute) in facts. This article looks to enumerate two mythical beings with the most verifiable truth in their back-stories

The Sasquatch

The legendary Sasquatch or more appropriately Bigfoot as it is popularly known is one of the most talked about mythical creature in the United States. Countless articles, press releases, and even movies have debuted the media scene ever since it was allegedly sighted in 1967 by Roger Patterson. While the common notion in the society today is that the existence of this creature was a hoax, it is interesting to note that quite a significant number of individuals have come forward to attest to its reality.

Based on factual evidence most ecologist and environmentalist have pointed out that the current ecosystem of the region (i.e. North West America) in which this creature is reported to have been sighted is grossly incapable of hosting it, especially when you consider the fact that such creatures have to live in hordes.

The only valid argument against this assertion is that the population of the Sasquatch was and is still experiencing a rapid decline in what proponents of its existence have tagged as a near extinction event. Tales prevalent in the setting of the ancient North American society all have relatable reference to the current description of this creature, further backing up the claim that these creatures once roamed the region. However, until concrete evidence that transcends pictorial proof are tabled for examination, the notion that this existence of this creature was born out of the need to create the ‘bogeyman’ type of character to scare naughty children remains valid

Vampires

Vampires are perhaps the most popular mythical creatures. Virtually every society both modern and old has well-rooted tales and theories about the existence of these demi-gods. The first Vampire ever recorded in literature is said to be Ambrogio, a Greek adventurer with Italian roots. Ambrogio, an average human would attain his monster status after a series of events, which include; being cursed by the Apollo, the Greek god of the sun; losing his soul to the god of the underworld, Hades; and yet another curse from Artemis. Artemis would then go on to bless him, as an act of mercy with superhuman strength, astute hunting skills and the statutory lust for blood (which is surprisingly categorized as a blessing)

Are Vampires real? This is a question almost every individual with a flair for mythology has asked, consequent of the almost worldwide popularity of the concept – for an idea to command such followership and interest it certainly should have some shards of truth in its proposition. Some ideologies back up the existence of vampires; the sheer number of other living things which have a profound lust for blood hints at the possibility of humans also incorporating this trait. From leeches Vampire bats and Vampire Finches the list of animals that display a predatory instinct for bloodletting is extensive, and for proponents of the Vampire existence, this highlights the possibility that some groups of men may have inherited this character, after all, according to the evolutionary tree we did evolve from these creatures.
