Santa Clara County Supes Declare February 'Rotary Awareness Month'

"Service Above Self" is more than a motto for the South Bay and Peninsula Rotarians.

The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors encourages all citizens to join them this month in recognizing Rotary International for its 110 years of service, announced Dave Cortese, president.

“It is a great honor to be acknowledged by the SCC Board,” said Ed Jellen, Rotary District 5170 Governor. “Every year the collaborative effort of 4,000 Bay Area Rotarians donate on average $1.5 million dollars and thousands of volunteer hours and expertise to help sustain vital community programs.”

The source of project funding begins with club fundraisers. The events are designed to “best serve the cultural tapestry of our Bay Area neighborhoods,” according to club organizers.
