Stretch Of El Camino Real Closed Saturday Morning Due to Gas Leak In Mountain View

The leak was capped and roadways reopened shortly before 10:30 a.m. [Breaking]

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – A gas line ruptured during construction this morning in Mountain View and resulted in road closures. Police closed El Camino Real between Shoreline Boulevard and El Monte Road in both directions, police said around 8:30 a.m. The roadways were reopened at about 10:20 a.m.

The gas main break was in the 1500 block of El Camino Real, according to police.

A PG&E crew responded to the scene and to cap the break, PG&E spokeswoman Karly Hernandez said.

During the incident, a power transformer was also knocked out, affecting just a handful of customers in the immediate area, according to police. Police asked residents to avoid the area.
