1 Arrested, 41 Cited During Bicycle, Pedestrian Safety Sting In Menifee
During the operation, officers also arrested and cited a driver for driving on a suspended license related to a prior DUI.
MENIFEE, CA — A driver was arrested and 41 citations were issued during a bicycle and pedestrian safety operation conducted by the Menifee Police Department on Wednesday.
The enforcement effort, held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at multiple streets and intersections, focused on areas frequently traveled by pedestrians and bicyclists. Officers cited 41 drivers and/or pedestrians for a variety of violations.
During the operation, officers also arrested and cited a driver for driving on a suspended license related to a prior DUI. The vehicle was impounded due to the suspended driver’s license, police said.
“Safety is a shared responsibility, with drivers holding the greatest responsibility to keep others on the road safe,” Menifee Police Chief Chris Karrer said. “We hope this operation serves as a reminder to everyone to look out for one another.”
Police said another bicycle and pedestrian safety operation is planned, though a date has not yet been determined. A news release will be issued once the date is selected.
Funding for the operation was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
