Air Quality Alert Issued For Southwest Riverside County

The forecast calls for elevated ozone levels that may be unhealthy for certain groups of people.

SOUTHWEST RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — The South Coast Air Quality Management District has issued an alert advising that air quality Saturday in Southwest Riverside County is forecast to be "unhealthful for sensitive groups" due to elevated ozone levels.

According to the agency, the following groups should limit prolonged or heavy outdoor exertion: people with heart disease, pregnant women, children and older adults, and people with lung disease, such as asthma.

The agency's air quality forecast is a prediction of air pollution. South Coast AQMD staff use weather forecasts, air pollution measurements, satellite data, and mathematical models to predict particle, ozone, nitrogen dioxide, and carbon monoxide concentrations, according to the agency.
