Public Swim Programs Open Across Southwest Riverside County

Swim lessons, lap swimming, masters classes, water exercise, and more are beginning throughout the region. How to find a pool near you:

SOUTHWEST RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — As Memorial Day Weekend approaches and the start of summer officially kicks off next month, public aquatics programs are opening across Southwest Riverside County. These include swim lessons, lap swimming, masters classes, and more.

Looking to improve your stroke, work on fitness, or get the kiddos in the water — but don't have pool access? The cities of Lake Elsinore, Menifee, Murrieta, and Temecula, as well as the county of Riverside, have options for you. Olympic-sized pools and low-cost sessions with lifeguards on hand make swimming in Southwest Riverside County a possibility for all residents.

Lake Elsinore:

Lake Elsinore's 2026 summer swim schedule was pending as of May 19, but the city is working to finalize the program and post details by the end of May. To receive updates, click here.

Menifee:

All city of Menifee swim programs take place at Paloma Valley High School, 31375 Bradley Road. The program features swim lessons, lap swimming, and recreational swimming. Pricing starts at $2 for Menifee residents. The swim schedule is coming soon — get more information here.

Murrieta:

In August 2023, the city of Murriea made the difficult decision to permanently close the pool facility at Cal Oaks Sports Park, but that doesn't mean the city has cut its aquatics programs. The pool at Vista Murrieta High School, 28251 Clinton Keith Road, is where all programs are being conducted in 2026. Whether you're looking to swim laps, splash around with family, or relax in the water, the pool is open to all June 6 through Aug. 9 with sessions starting at $1 for children and $2 for Murrieta residents. Temecula:

Temecula currently offers year-round swim programs at the Community Rec Center, 30875 Rancho Vista Road, and the Margarita Rec Center, 29119 Margarita Road, but the season really goes into high gear starting June 6 and runs through Sept. 23. Recreational swims, lap swimming, masters classes, water exercise classes, family nights (including special needs), and more are available. Fees are as low as $1 per session for Temecula residents. County of Riverside:

If you live in an area like Winchester or French Valley, the Diamond Valley Aquatic Center at 1801 Angler Avenue in Hemet is likely closer for you — and it's a very cool facility. It features a heated 25-yard pool with a water slide and zero-depth entry. The season opens there on May 23 and runs through Sept. 26. The facility offers open swimming and family activities. As of May 19, the aquatic center's website was not yet updated with the swim schedule, but Valley-Wide Recreation & Park District sent out an announcement with all the details:

Open swimming at Diamond Valley Aquatic Center will be available weekends, May 23 to 25, May 30 and 31, and June 6 and 7. The pool will be open seven days per week starting June 12.

Opening weekend hours will be 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Admission is $10 for ages 3 to 54, $8 for 55-plus and military/veterans, and $2 for 2 and younger.

Starting June 12, hours and admission at Diamond Valley Aquatic Center will be:

— Monday-Friday, 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Admission: $8 for ages 3 to 54, $7 for 55-plus and military/veterans, and $2 for 2 and younger.
— Saturday-Sunday, 12:30-4:30 p.m. Admission: $10 for ages 3 to 54, $8 for 55-plus and military/veterans, and $2 for 2 and younger.

Besides the open swim sessions, the Diamond Valley Aquatic Center will also offer:

— "Come Swim with Me" for families with special needs, 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays June 13 and 27, July 11 and 25 and Aug. 8. $7 for ages 3 to 54, $6 for 55-plus and military/veterans and $2 for 2 and younger.
— "AM Family Swim" from 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays, June 20, July 18, and Aug. 1. $7 for ages 3 to 54, $6 for 55-plus and military/veterans, and $2 for 2 and younger.
— Lap Swim for adults from 11 a.m. to noon each Sunday starting June 14. $2 per person.
