MURRIETA, CA — Construction crews have begun work on Whitewood Road to remove and replace damaged asphalt.
City officials announced on Wednesday the sidewalks, curb and gutter, and sections of asphalt concrete.
About 100 trees were removed to make way for the repair project. When the repairs on Whitewood Road conclude, the trees that were removed on the road will be replaced.
In May, city officials said new sustainable trees will be replanted with proper root barriers to prevent future damage to the city's infrastructure.
The project is expected to be completed the first week of August.
