Air Support Tankers, Murrieta And Cal Fire Firefighters Battle De Luz Blaze

DE LUZ, CA —Cal Fire air support circled a blaze that ignited in the unincorporated area west of Temecula, keeping a home in its path safe Thursday afternoon.

The brush fire burned almost two acres before it was stopped.

Shortly after 12:30 p.m.,The fire began at Terreno and La Casita drives, in the unincorporated community of De Luz, according to a department spokesperson.

Multiple engine and hand crews from the county and support from Murrieta Fire & Rescue were sent to the location and encountered flames moving at a slow rate, bounded by dirt roads, in the immediate vicinity of one residence.

Air support from two Cal Fire air tankers and a water-dropping helicopter initiated runs on the brusher just after 1 p.m. and confined the blaze within the roads.

Firefighters quickly established hose lays, halting the fire's forward rate of spread just one hour after the blaze began, according to reports from the scene.

The home was not damaged.

Full containment of the fire was expected before 3 p.m.

The cause of the blaze -- the third one in that area over the last two months -- was under investigation.
