MURRIETA, CA — A holiday blanket drive is underway in Southwest Riverside County to bring warmth, meals, and companionship to local senior citizens on Christmas Day.
Organizers are collecting new blankets through Dec. 10 at the Murrieta Postal Center, 39520 Murrieta Hot Springs Road, Suite 219. The blankets will be delivered to seniors along with hot meals on Dec. 25, according to the group.
The effort is supported by the Temecula Rotary Club, 100+ Women Who Care Temecula Valley and M.A.L.H.I. Community Outreach Protective Services Inc.
In addition to blanket donations, organizers are seeking volunteers willing to contribute their time and help with the holiday outreach.
"The drive offers residents a direct way to assist older neighbors who may be living alone or facing financial, health, or mobility challenges," a spokesperson for the charitable event said. "A warm blanket and delivered meal meet practical needs, but the Christmas Day visit can also provide something less tangible: a reminder that local seniors remain connected to and valued by their community."
Only new blankets will be accepted.
