Murrieta Residents Surveyed For Riverside County Hazard Mitigation Plan

MURRIETA, CA —Officials have invited Murrieta residents to take a survey to help mitigate hazards in the event of a possible disaster.

According to Murrieta Fire & Rescue, the city is participating in Riverside County's five-year update of the Multi-Jurisdictional Local Hazard Mitigation Plan.

"The plan identifies hazards that could affect our community and outlines strategies to reduce their impacts before disasters occur," Murrieta Fire & Rescue said on Facebook.

According to the Riverside County Office of Emergency Management, there are 40 jurisdictions involved in the five-year update of the Multi-Jurisdictional Local Hazard Mitigation Plan, which was initiated in the summer.

"The goal of the 2028 Riverside County MJLHMP is to save lives and property through the reduction of hazard vulnerability for the unincorporated county. During the course of this planning project, county and local leaders and the community will work in tandem to identify risks, assess capabilities, and formulate a strategy to reduce disaster vulnerability," according to the agency's website.

Residents were invited to provide their input and learn more about the planning process by visiting the county's online public survey, which is anonymous.

Murrieta Fire & Rescue said survey feedback "is an important part of the planning process and helps inform future preparedness and mitigation efforts."
