Arrest Made In Winchester Shooting That Left 1 Person Wounded, Weapons Cache Discovered: RSO
The shooting was reported July 31 in the 33000 block of Simpson Road.
WINCHESTER, CA — A 48-year-old man who was arrested over the weekend is being held Monday on suspicion of a shooting that left one person injured near Winchester.
Deputies responded to the 33000 block of Simpson Road on July 31 to a report of a shooting, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. They learned the victim had been taken to a hospital, but was subsequently released.
Investigators with the sheriff's Perris station assumed the case and identified Jason Adams of Homeland as the suspect.
Adams was arrested Friday evening in the 800 block of West Florida Avenue in Hemet. A search warrant was later served at Adams' residence in the 26000 block of Guthridge Lane in Homeland where deputies allegedly found several items of evidence from the shooting along with 13 firearms, including a suppressed handgun, several assault rifles and an allegedly stolen handgun.
Many of the firearms found were allegedly unregistered or had no serial number. Adams was booked into the Southwest Detention Center on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Adams' previous felony charge was unknown.
