Average Gasoline Price Near Murrieta Records Largest Daily Increase Since October 2012

The average price is 31.9 cents more than one week ago and 77.5 cents higher than one month ago, but 67.8 cents less than one year ago.

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in the Inland Empire Thursday recorded its largest daily increase since Oct. 6, 2012, rising 6.8 cents to $3.184, its highest amount since Nov. 11.

The average price in Riverside and San Bernardino counties has increased 27 consecutive days, rising 78.6 cents, including 6.4 cents on Wednesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 31.9 cents more than one week ago and 77.5 cents higher than one month ago, but 67.8 cents less than one year ago.

The 27-day streak of increases is the longest since a 29-day streak from Jan. 29-Feb. 26, 2013.

The explosion last Wednesday that caused a partial shutdown of the ExxonMobil refinery in Torrance put additional pressure on gasoline prices, whose supply had already been reduced by the process of converting to production of summer blend gasoline, according to Marie Montgomery of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
