Bail Adjustment Denied For Man Accused Of Gunning Down Neighbor
The man is accused of killing his neighbor in Perris.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — A judge Tuesday denied a bail reduction request from a man accused of gunning down his neighbor in Perris.
Alexander Richard Aguayo, 39, was arrested May 4 after allegedly killing 37-year-old Raul Carbajal in the 1400 block of Sweet Bay Drive, near Nuevo Road.
Aguayo is charged with murder, possession of an assault rifle and sentence-enhancing gun and great bodily injury allegations.

The defendant's attorney last week submitted a motion seeking to reduce his client's $2 million bond requirement by an unspecified sum, and the motion was argued before Superior Court Judge Emma Smith, who rejected the petition after hearing from both the defense and prosecution.
Smith scheduled a felony settlement conference for June 6 at the Riverside Hall of Justice. Aguayo is being held at the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.

According to sheriff's Sgt. Wally Clear, the shooting happened just after midnight May 4 at Carbajal's residence.
Deputies were called to the location to investigate reports of a gun assault and found the victim mortally wounded, Clear said. Paramedics pronounced Carbajal dead at the scene moments later.
Witnesses identified Aguayo as the alleged shooter and pointed out his home, but the defendant fled in his car before deputies arrived, according to the sergeant.
He said Aguayo was stopped by patrol units blocks away and was taken into custody without a struggle.
A possible motive for the shooting was not disclosed.
Aguayo has no documented prior felony convictions in Riverside County.
