Boys Soccer Team from Murrieta Claims Two Championship Titles
Murrieta Surf B99, part of a competitive program affiliated with the Murrieta Youth Soccer League, beat out their opponents in two recent championship tournaments.
A team of competitive boys soccer players from Murrieta are celebrating two recent championship wins.
Murrieta Surf B99, part of a competitive program affiliated with the Murrieta Youth Soccer League, rose to the top of the 2012 Tournament of Champions held Aug. 11-12, according to the team website.
As the tournament date came closer, and venues for the Boys U13 age group was still undecided, the boys continued to practice in their local Murrieta location.

Little did they know that being exposed to the heat in Murrieta that they would be prepared to face the scorching challenge that daunted them for the 2012 Tournament of Champions.
They drew a venue located in El Cajon, where temperatures soared into the three digit range by 8 a.m. and rose higher as the day progressed. On Saturday, Aug. 11, they met their first opponent, Santee Matrix and declared a strong and solid victory with a score of 6-0.

As the day wore on and the temperatures rose, the boys' next opponent, Aztec United, came just as spent but willed as the Murrieta Surf boys. This resulted in a tied score, 1-1.
Not to be deterred, the boys returned on Sunday for an early game but the temperatures were still not to be below 100 degrees, and met their third opponent, Quest Blue. Again, wanting the win to be able to move on, they won with a resounding score of 3-0.
On to the championship game and a cooler location, they had to rush to La Jolla and play onto the professional fields at University of California, San Diego Allen Sports Center. There they met their final opponent for the championship game: Vista Storm.
The battle was fierce as both teams could see the glimmer of that championship trophy but the Murrieta Surf B99 team wanted it just a little bit more and came out with a victory, 1-0.
Prior to that performance, the boys came out champions of the 2012 Elite Cut Tournament held July 28-29.
While they won against El Centro Pal 2-0 on Saturday, July 28, the boys lost against Oranje Voetball Club 1-2 the following day.
Not to be deterred by the loss, Murrieta Surf B99 went into semi-finals against Quest U13 boys and won 1-0.
Consequently, they had to face Oranje Voetball Club in the final match. The game was tied 3-3 in regulation play before it went to penalty kicks. The Murrieta Surf boys came out winners after they had four balls go into the net compared to Oranje Voetball Club's three.
