Nice Ride Dad!

An unexpected trip to the hospital with a very happy ending.

All into cars? Hardly! But I must say that my husband's ride the other day was pretty impressive!

I was on the phone with a friend from the American Heart Association, which I do fundraising for, when I got another call. It was from my husband. He rarely calls me during the day so I let my friend know I would need to call back and clicked over to see what was up with my hubby. He says completely calmly, "they are taking me to the hospital via ambulance, I'm having chest pains. I will meet you at Rancho Springs, I'm at the Urgent Care and they will not let me drive."

I toss my purse into the car and head over to the hospital and beat him there.  Granted, I was two blocks from the hospital but my mind was racing.

. . . crazy thoughts.

Because I volunteer for the American Heart Association, I have done a bit of research on heart attack and stroke and know chest pain is nothing to blow off.  He would be at the hospital any minute and they could take care of him, he would be in the best place to figure out what was going on. welcomed me in my harried state and said they would let me know when he arrived.

For what seemed like endless minutes (actually only four), I waited. The admissions clerk was so kind and her words let me know that she cared. She knew I was scared and assured me he was in good hands. What transpired over the next 48 hours was frightening but each person that touched his chart or that we spoke with was so professional and compassionate. Every nurse, aide and doctor answered our every question and educated us on what was going on. They made time to really connect with us.

So the ride was not exactly a "ride," but emergency transportation. Now that everything seems to be under control we are relieved that they sent us to Rancho Springs and introduced us to our cardiologist, Dr. Brian Bui, at the Inland Valley Cardiovascular Center. They are an amazing team of people who obviously love their patients. Thank you Murrieta, for having great professionals practice here and for taking such amazing care of our family!

Next time, if my hubby wants an exciting ride we'll just rent a convertible!
