The Merc presents LEO FROM RIO: SONGS OF LATIN ICONS, an evening of rhythm, glamour and joy created and performed by Leopold Nunan.
Backed by a band of world-class musicians, Leopold gives his own theatrical, passionate take on the legends of Latin music: the bossa nova of Antônio Carlos Jobim and Sérgio Mendes, the soulful voices of Mercedes Sosa and Violeta Parra, the fiery salsa of Celia Cruz, and the romantic boleros of Luis Miguel.
The timing is special. The show falls in the last days of Hispanic Heritage Month and the lead-up to Día de los Muertos, a fitting moment to honor artists whose music crossed borders and generations. It's a celebration of openness, acceptance and the freedom to be fully yourself, a reminder that music has always brought people together.
