Car Plummets Over I-15 Hillside In Murrieta: CHP

California Highway Patrol Officers and Murrieta Fire Department responded to the scene Tuesday morning.

MURRIETA, CA — A vehicle was seen plummeting off the steep edge of the southbound I-15 Freeway at the Kalmia/California Oaks exit Tuesday morning, California Highway Patrol dispatch operators said.

Both CHP Officers and the Murrieta Fire Department responded to the incident shortly before 8:30 a.m. after witnesses told 911 operators of a vehicle seen leaving the roadway.

"Only the tail lights were visible," according to dispatch operators. It was unclear what caused the incident or if anyone was hurt in the crash.

Southbound freeway traffic through the area was not disrupted, though emergency vehicles would be present for a time.
