Charter School Enrolling in Murrieta
River Springs Charter School is accepting new students for its three distinct programs, which include hybrid home school options. Information sessions are held each Wednesday.
The Murrieta Student Center of River Springs Charter School is now enrolling kindergartners in the Classical Mind University and Casa Montessori programs. Both are full day, free programs.
is a fully accredited, tuition-free K-12 public school, with its Murrieta location at 41862 Kalmia St.
Along with full-time home-schooling opportunities and multiple student centers located throughout Riverside, San Bernardino, Orange, Imperial, and San Diego counties, River Springs Charter School offers exciting, free programs to the Murrieta community, said Luz Johnston, director of the Murrieta Student Center.
Choices consist of three distinct programs:
Classical Mind University is K-7. It is a two-day home school and on-site instruction academy program. Classical Education focuses on integrating history throughout the curriculum and incorporates Thomas Jefferson Education and resources cited in The Well Trained Mind by Susan Wise Bauer. Classes are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, including for kindergarten.
Casa Montessori is K-6. It is a three-day home school and on-site instruction academy program. Teachers are trained in the Montessori Method which focuses on small group instruction and independent learning. Classes are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, including kindergarten.
Classical Montessori Middle School serves students in seventh and eighth grades. It's a five-day academy. Teachers are trained in the Montessori Method. The dynamic program offers leadership and service learning opportunities as well as electives courses, Johnston said. Classes are from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Information events are held at 10 a.m. every Wednesday at the site.
"Doors will be open to the community to learn more about our school and visit with teachers, families and students," Johnston said.
"The public is welcome to tour our Murrieta facility and learn what River Springs has to offer."
River Springs Charter School is a parent-choice school where the community is the classroom, Johnston said.
"Our mission is to foster the innate curiosity of our students, empower their parents, and promote optimum learning by collaboratively developing a personalized learning program for each student."
