MURRIETA, CA—Murrieta Soccer Academy is partnering with City SC Temecula, Menifee, and Lake Elsinore to create a super club soccer program for Southwest Riverside County teams.

They are welcoming teams to the newly named City SC Southwest soccer club. Under the new banner, the club will continue to operate in the above southwest RivCo cities, offering recreational to elite competitive programs like MLS NEXT and GA. It is not currently known if City SC Southwest will offer ECNL or ECRL programs.

"This will create a United club to provide unparalleled opportunities for all players in the valley," a City SC Southwest club spokesperson said over Instagram.

"Our mission remains the same: to offer development pathways that lead to lifelong enjoyment, college opportunities, and professional ambitions. While the name changes, the values, programs, and dedicated coaches remain.

"Let’s come together as one united club, shaping the future of soccer in the valley for generations to come. We’re excited for what’s ahead!"

The City of Murrieta's original plans with Murrieta Soccer Academy were stalled between 2018 and 2022 due to biological reports and other factors. MSA was to take a management role in this project; however, the stadium structure was suggested to be "removed," according to Asst.

The failed MSA partnership project took a backseat to a council-formed ad hoc committee to study the feasibility of developing seven additional soccer fields at the suggested Los Alamos Sports Park or the city's other 54 parks.

According to the Sept. 3 council meeting, the committee's results should be completed by December.
