Mulligan Water Attraction Gets New Completion Date

The water attraction will boast five slides and multiple water effects.

The slipping and sliding will have to wait just a little bit longer.

in Murrieta is still undergoing construction on its newest feature, a multi-slide water attraction.

The fun center originally announced a Memorial Day weekend opening for the water feature, but management said Friday the unveiling date will likely be late June or early July.

The weather is the only thing that hasn't been a factor, said Mike Manassee, general manager. Manassee said they knew fairly early on that due to building permits, inspections and construction changes, a Memorial Day opening wasn't realistic.

Crews are working diligently to complete the five-slide water feature. A pool where the Blaster Boats used to be located was filled in to make way for it. There will be two parallel toddler slides, three larger slides and a fully enclosed slide.

"Then scattered around the attraction there are water effects," Manassee said.

One such effect is a large bucket that will periodically spill over on guests.

Also during construction, a maintenance shed near the attraction is being converted to restrooms. Two restrooms will be strictly for guests using the attraction, while two others will be accessible to all guests in the park. Tables with umbrella shades will be placed near the attraction, as well.

The price of an all-day pass will increase by $1, to $20.99, and will include access to the water attraction. The feature will be open during the summer and can easily be turned on if the area is experiencing unseasonably warm weather, Manassee said.

A grand opening event will be publicized. While many await that day, the park was still bustling on Friday, as many surrounding school districts let out this week.

Murrieta is one of three Mulligan locations, and Manassee said it will be the only with a water attraction of this caliber. This main attraction is Phase 1 of an overall plan to transition the location to more of a water park.

"We are kind of the beta test site," he said.
