Coroner IDs Baby Killed I-215 Fatal Crash As 3 Others Taken To Hospital
A 3-month-old baby was killed in a collision on the northbound I-215 freeway.
PERRIS, CA — The Riverside County Sheriff's Department Coroner's Bureau released the identity of a Perris baby killed in the I-215 crash Sunday evening.
Leon Edgington Morales, 3 months, died at the scene of the crash, his identity released after notification of next of kin.
Just after 7:30 p.m. Sunday, the collision occurred on the northbound I-215 freeway, south of Eucalyptus Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol Dispatch Operators.
At 8:05 p.m., the CHP operators reported the mother and two infants were ready to be transported to a hospital and that Riverside firefighters were working to free the father from the wreckage.
The 3-month-old died in the crash, the Riverside County Sheriff's Coroner's Bureau confirmed.
Animal Control was summoned to take custody of a dog that had been inside the vehicle, the CHP stated.
A SigAlert issued just after 8 p.m. shut down all northbound lanes at Eucalyptus and lasted for several hours.
