Coroner IDs Bicyclist Killed In Winchester Fatal Hit & Run
A 62-year-old Hemet man was at last identified after last week's hit and run
HEMET, CA — The Riverside County coroner's office Sunday identified a 62-year-old bicyclist who was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver just west of Hemet.
Glen Hysom of Hemet was pronounced dead at the scene, the coroner's office reported.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the suspect was driving a 2008 GMC Acadia on Thursday night in the area of California and Stetson avenues when he allegedly plowed into the bicyclist, shattering the victim's bike and hurling Hysom a short distance from the impact point.

The suspect sped off northbound in his SUV but was ultimately apprehended on a ranch property on Ocean Avenue in Homeland thanks to witnesses, authorities said.
Carlos Arturo Acosta, 38, of Homeland was arrested and booked into the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on suspicion of hit-and-run resulting in death, as well as driving on a suspended license. Acosta was being held on $75,000 bail.

Jail records show that he has an unresolved misdemeanor driving under the influence case out of San Bernardino County.
The CHP was investigating the crash.
