A pedestrian who was hit by a vehicle and died Monday night on Highway 74 in Homeland has been identified by the coroner’s office.
Chris Rafferty, 51, of Homeland was struck at approximately 6:25 p.m. on SR 74 at Juniper Flats Road; he was pronounced dead just 17 minutes later, according to the Riverside County coroner’s office.
It’s not immediately clear what may have led to the tragic crash that remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
No arrests were announced by officials.
