Earthquake Shakes East Of Murrieta, Temecula
It was originally measured as a 3.4 magnitude temblor — but was later downgraded, data shows.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — A magnitude 2.9 earthquake shook the Riverside County area early Friday, the U.S. Geological Survey reports. It happened at 5:33 a.m. local time and was centered close to Idyllwild.
It was originally measured as a 3.4 magnitude temblor — but was later downgraded, data shows.
According to the U.S.G.S., the quake was located:
- 3.1 mi S of Idyllwild
- 9.9 mi NNW of Anza
- 10.6 mi ESE of Valle Vista
- 14.3 mi SW of Palm Springs
- 32.9 mi ESE of Moreno Valley
