CONCERT - Inland Valley Youth Symphony & Wind Symphony

The Inland Valley Youth Symphony and the Wind Symphony present their Fall Concert "CONTRASTS" - Monday, October 24th at 7pm - Murrieta Mesa High School in the Gershwin Performing Arts Center.

"CONTRASTS" will feature the Inland Valley Youth Symphony, conducted by Karen Thurman-Palmer, performing:

  • Rosamunde Overture by Schubert 
  • Contrasts for Orchestra by Grant Hull 
  • Suite No. 2 (movements I & II) by Grieg

Special featured soloists on the concert will be Derrick and Justine Tiu performing the well-known Hungarian piece Czardas by Vittorio Monte.

Enjoy a unique opportunity to hear a marimba solo by Thomas Kurator, MMHS student and member of the Youth Wind Symphony, who will perform Ultimatum 1 by Nebojsa Jovan Zivkovic.

Thomas Garvin, music director at MMHS, conducts the Inland Valley Youth WIND Symphony on the 2nd half of the program.  This high energy group will perform:  

  • Country Gardens by Percy Grainger
  • Irish Tune from County Derry by Percy Aldridge     Grainger, 
  • Miss Trombone (A Slippery Rag) by Henry Fillmore
  • Galop (From a Musical Comdy) by Dmitri Shostakovich 

 

Both the youth symphony and wind symphony are sponsored by the Inland Valley Symphony and are tuition based programs.  These groups are open to all young musicians who are interested in playing quality music in an ensemble setting.  New applications are accepted throughout the year.  For more information about the youth music programs call 760-318-0460 or visit the website http://www.inlandvalleyyouthsymphony.org
