Fire Off Nuevo Road Burns Perilously Close To Home, Horses [PHOTOS]

NUEVO , CA — A brushfire that started over the weekend in an empty lot in Nuevo was fully contained Monday, authorities said. The blaze was reported at was reported at 1:34 p.m. Sunday in the 30000 block Nuevo Road and burned an estimated 26 acres before it was fully contained late that night, Tawny Cabral of the Riverside County Fire Department said.
When firefighters got to the scene, they estimated about 10 acres of brush had burned. Approximately 150 firefighters were ultimately assigned to the Nuevo Incident before it was contained at 9 p.m.
Crews in four air tankers, two bulldozers and two water tenders were also dispatched to assist ground crews in extinguishing the fire, which spread at a moderate rate, Cabral said.

Images taken from the scene and shared with Patch show the flames on a local hillside, burning close to at least one home with horses on the property.
Thankfully, no damages or injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
