MURRIETA (CNS) - Firefighters Saturday battled a brush fire that prompted the closure of the southbound Escondido (215) Freeway and the Temecula Valley (15) Freeway in Murrieta.
The fire was reported just before 2 p.m. Saturday at the interchange of the southbound 215 and 15 freeways.
Responding firefighters reported the fire was about 100-by-50 yards, and said forward progress had been stopped around 2:15 p.m., according to the Watch Duty app.
Units predicted remaining on scene for at least one more hour for mop-up.
No injuries were immediately reported and the cause of the fire was not immediately known.
As of 3 p.m. Saturday, both freeways had reopened.
